HONORING OUR FIRST RESPONDERS

WHAT IS

OUR WHY?

The number one cause of line of duty deaths for first responders are cardiac related issues.  Cancer is sky-rocketing and mental health issues such as depression and PTSD are gripping our firefighters, EMS workers, law enforcement personnel and dispatchers.  Physical and mental health need to be a priority for all first responders and their agencies that employ them.  Studies have shown that prevention efforts through exercise and healthy nutrition can greatly reduce cardiac death.  Studies have also shown that healthy physical habits can alleviate stress, anxiety and depression.  

The Texas Line of Duty Death Task Force believes that a great impact for change in the reduction of cardiac line of duty deaths, common on-duty injuries, and stress related injuries and deaths can be achieved through good health practices.  Solid nutrition, consistent exercise, positive social circles, regular medical check-ups, and supportive mental health services through peers and professionals can help save the lives of our heroes.

Through our 31 Days 31 Heroes work out challenge it is our goal to bring awareness to the first responder community about the importance and value of their health and how that effects their work, as well as to honor our fallen and injured first responders.

During the month of October, you can participate by joining as an individual and accessing 31 workouts of the day for the month of October, or you can join up with a gym that is hosting a 31 Days 31 Heroes Workout Challenge.  

​

Your participation in the 31 Days 31 Heroes workout challenge will help support the Texas LODD Task Force with awareness efforts, memorial and remembrance programs, as well as caring for families and agencies affected by line of duty death and injury.

GYMS & GROUPS

Do you own a Crossfit gym, a fitness gym, or lead a fitness group?  Are you a first responder agency that participates in fitness activities?  Then we are looking for you! 

We are looking for gyms, groups, and departments to host a memorial work-out-of the day in honor of our fallen & injured first responders.   All gyms hosting a memorial WOD will be featured on our social media platforms and website. You host the workout.  We help promote it.   If this sounds like something that is up your alley and you would like to support the cause, please fill out the contact information below.
