Remembrance
It's important for us to remember those individuals who have lost their lives in the line of duty and for us to never forget their loved ones, co-workers, and agencies that they have left behind. We quickly state that we will never forget and that we will 'take it from here,' when a first responder perishes. What does that truly mean and how can we help carry on their legacy. How can we show support to the families years after the loss has occurred? The Texas LODD Task Force believes that there are many ways to keep the memories of our fallen first responders burning in our hearts and minds. Through education, programs, and fundraisers, memorial projects is one of the largest of our programs.
Virtual Memorial Tribute Wall
Do you have a first responder that has died that you would like to pay tribute to? We would like to add them to our virtual memorial wall. Please submit their name, agency, photo, and any information you would like to share.
MAKE IT PURPLE
The Texas LODD Task Force,Governor Greg Abbott, and the Texas Legislature dedicated May as Fallen First Responder Awareness Month. This will be a rallying point for the public service community, their families, and the families of the fallen to support those who have given their lives in the line of duty. During the month of May show your support by wearing purple and participating in special activities.
TRAIN TO REMEMBER
One of the best ways to never forget, is to prevent future injuries and fatalities. Training is the best way to prevent fatalities. The Train to Remember program is simply choosing a fatality investigation report from the SFMO, or choosing an incident that has taken place and build your training around the findings and suggestions of the investigators. We can learn from the what went wrong in those situations and try to prevent those issues from occurring again.
