#GivingTuesday 2018

While Thanksgiving is over, the season of giving is not — and there’s an entire day dedicated to it. The Tuesday after Thanksgiving has been known as Giving Tuesday since 2012 and falls on Nov. 27 this year.

The movement started in New York City and aims to encourage people around the world to give back to their communities as holiday festivities gear up to full force. Facebook and PayPal are partnering up to match donations made next Tuesday on the social network for a total of up to $7 million, $5 million up from last year’s $2 million.

Due to the nature of social media, Facebook’s Giving Tuesday contribution will be able to reach all corners of the country, and local charities are hoping to benefit.

Anyone wanting to contribute to the Texas LODD Task Force can do so by either donating to our #GivingTuesday Facebook fundraiser or starting one on our behalf. Facebook will match up to $250,000 per nonprofit organization and $20,000 per donor starting at 7 a.m. on Nov. 27 until the $7 million cap is reached.

"This is an exciting giving opportunity for the Texas LODD Task Force. To have two major corporations provide matching grants to non-profits participating in #GivingTuesday, gives us the chance to raise more money for our programs and services to Texas first responders, their families, and agencies," says Wendy Norris, President of the Texas LODD Task Force.

"If you have ever thought about donating to our organization, November 27th will be the perfect day to do that since Facebook and PayPal will be matching those donation."

We are very blessed by the donors and supporters who help us strive to keep our mission moving forward in 2019. We thank you for your consideration as you choose to give during this season of giving!
